ORIGINAL MICHELIN BIBENDUM VINTAGE SIGN BY DE ANDREIS & CO MARSEILLES
Thought to be from around 1928, Bibendum running with the tyre has 'Trilby Hat' Shaped eye iris which later changed to the familiar Moon Eyes in the 1930's. Single sided Tin Embossed sign in the age before Enamel production for Michelin. In the era when Michelin moved first moved from cycle origins to motor tyre production.
Very Rare 29 1/2" x 29 1/2" or 743 mm square
The item can be authenticated by looking in the Rudy LeCodiac book 'The Michelin Man'
This is a rare sign and all the Michelin white figure and Tyre outlines are original. The blue paint on the sign has been historically over painted many years ago and some of this paint has been removed in the lower edge to confirm its nameplate origins 'Made in France' - De Andreis & Revon. and Serial Numbers.
You are buying a piece of history- never will be available again and becoming increasingly rare as the years pass.
Makes a stunning wall display.
This sign at 95 years old is solid; it is not rusty and has survived a World War in France, unscathed.
Price is reflected in rarely value and valued against many other overpriced much more modern Michelin signs available internationally.
Available for Collection or Delivery, Will be sent in purpose made wooden frame and packaging.
